Publication Policies for the Center of Gulf & Arabian Peninsula Studies

Publication Guidelines for the Special Issues Series:
     The Center welcomes research and studies pertinent to the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula region in its special issues series according to the following rules and regulations:

1. The research study should focus on major concerns relevant to Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Region , Particularly addressing the broad fields of Policy , Economics , Geography , History , Psychology , Sociology , Education , Arabic Language , Arts Culture , Environment , Law , Media , Heritage ( Antiquities, Civilization & Arts  etc).

2. The research should generate new knowledge , significantly contributing to advancement in the specialized field.

3. The research should not have been originally submitted before to any other organization or authority to be published .

4. The maximum limit as regards the number of pages in the research study min .100 pages. 

5.  The study should be submitted to the Director , Center for Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies , along with the CD.

6. The reference quoted in the study should be listed a

   

   s the APA style .

7. The Abstract or summary of research ,not exceeding 300 words , must be submitted in both Arabic and English .

8. A brief curriculum Vitae of  the research must be enclosed with the research study , including contact information , such as, Telephone , Fax and e-mail.

9.  The research and studies submitted for publication in the Center's Special Series , Will be reviewed by refereed in respective fields , prior to its acceptance for inclusion in the series.

10. The researchers would be informed of the review outcome, within four weeks of the submission of their research by the Center's management.

11. The Center is not bound to return the research or studies submitted , regardless of whether published or not .

12. The research is entitled to 50 copies of the reprint of his /her published research/study .

13. The researcher cannot republish the research / study in any other journal/magazine/series, or any publication , within a period of three years from the date of publishing in the Center's series .

the Center would pay the research a symbolic reward for each of his/her research / study published in the special series.


Refereeing:

     1. All issues of the series are refereed by highly reputed, distinguished and well-experienced reviewers/referees.
     2. The referee should give his/her written opinion on the work submitted according to a number of specific criteria, such as:

- Research methodology.
- References and footnotes.
- Correct language and logical conclusions.

     Having completed the assessment, the referee will be required to give his/her opinion clearly and impartially whether or not the work is publishable.

     3. Each issue will be refereed by, at least, two referees. In case the issue was rejected by one of them, the director of the Center has the right to choose a third referee. If a work is rejected by the referees, the author would be notified. The Center then has the right to keep the original.
     4. Should the author, or any of the authors, belong to Kuwait University; both referees have to be from outside the University.


The Center’s rights:

     1. The Director of the Center has the right to make an initial assessment of a work submitted for publication so as to decide whether or not the work is eligible as a publication. In addition, the decision made by the referees would be considered obligatorily committing.
     2. It is for the Director to inform the author, whose work was rejected, of the referees’ decision, or abstract thereof, if requested. Anonymity of referees will be reserved, and the Center is not obligated to respond to the author’s complaint.
     3. If the author did not make the required modifications of his/her work within a period in excess of three months after being notified by the Center, the issue would be cancelled, unless a compulsory excuse was submitted and accepted by the Director.
     4. Priority of publishing would be given for accepted issues, written by authors affiliated to Kuwait University.
     5. The Center has the right to publish the issue as a hard copy (on paper) or an electronic one (computerized).
     6. Neither the author nor anyone else has the right to republish the issue, except after five years of its first publication, and after getting a prior approval from the director of the Center.
     7. Should it be proven, beyond doubt, that the author is going to publish the issue before, at, or after being submitted to the Center, it is the right of the Center to prevent this author from publishing in future. In addition, the authority where the author works would be notified.
     8. In case the author did not make all modifications required by both referees and the Center, or withdrew the issue before being published, he/she would be responsible for the referees’ fees, postage ...etc.

Rules for Publication in the Dissertations Abstracts Series:

1. The research subject must necessarily concern Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Region,   Gulf Cooperation Council Countries.
2. The research must be original, and contribute to advancement of  knowledge in the field and  3 years from the date of obtaining it .
3. The summary of research must not exceed 50 pages. 
4. The researcher must clearly state the name of institution  conferring Master's or Ph.D Degree, and the  year in which the degree was granted, at the bottom of the Abstract's page. 
5. The presentation of relevant tables, figures, references, concerning the research summary must follow standard format and rules as  applicable to  scientific research.
6. On acceptance of abstracts for publication in the Scientific Research Abstracts Series, the Center grants  symbolic honorarium to the researcher.
