The
Center was established by the ministerial decree No7, issued on
May 29 1994, by the Minister of Higher Education and the Supreme
President of Kuwait University. The Center is one of specialized
centers for research and studies in the gulf and Arabian
Peninsula region, and is chaired by the Vice-President of Kuwait
University for Research. It is currently located on the Shuweikh
campus.
The center of Gulf and Arabian Peninsula studies aim at:-
1- Tracking the Social ,economical and culture
trends witnessed by the Gulf and Arabian peninsula related to
the Arabic ,regional and Islamic international aspects.
2- Tracking of the current and on-going events in
the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula through scientific analysis and
make it available for researches and decision makers.
3-Encourage and stimulate
Studies and researches related to the Gulf

and Arabian Peninsula
areas through Seminars and workshops and make the outcome
results and recommendations available for the concerned parties.
4-Collecting the historical
documents - Old and new , and various data and information's
related to Gulf and Arabian peninsula area and establishments of
information data base to support students and researchers .
5-Organizing , Seminars , conferences and
workshops which at revealing the environment fact and natural
resources of the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula .
6-Contributing and Providing the libraries with
Information and studies related to the Gulf and Arabian
Peninsula and providing a comprehensive literature about the
Arabian societies.
7-Strengthining and enhancing cooperation with
public corporation and private sector that aims at serving civil
communities in the Gulf cooperation council.
The Center has a number of varied activities ranging
from holding symposia, seminars and conferences, to supervising
academic publications such as the series of Gulf Documents, the
Special Issues series and Records of Current Events.
Organization Structure of the Center: Furthermore, the
Center has its own bylaws and staff organization system. It is
divided into specialized work units: Academic Publications,
Cultural Activities, Newspapers Archives, the Internet and the
Library.
Since 2003, the Center has become a member of the
Association of Documentation and Study Centers in GCC states, to
keep in touch with their cultural activities, such as seminars
and book fairs.
